Five trucks seized, fined for lifting sand illegally in Rangpur


RANGPUR, March 30, 2015 (BSS) - A joint mobile court of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and district administration in a drive seized five trucks and fined Taka 25,000 for illegally digging the river Ghaghot and lifting sand from there today.

According to a press release issued this evening, Executive Magistrate of RCC Rashedul Karim and Executive Magistrate of the district administration Chhonda Paul jointly led the mobile court at Hajirhat area under Ward No-1 in the city.

Concerned officials of the City Corporation and district administration and police forces were present while conducting the drives.

The mobile court seized the five trucks red-handed from the spot while digging the riverbeds and lifting sand illegally and fined each of the truck owners with Taka 5,000 during the drive.

Executive Magistrate of RCC Rashedul Karim said that the mobile court will continue to conduct similar drives in future till lifting of sand illegally from the riverbeds was stopped in the city, the press release mentioned.
